General: Tall growing biennial with long, spindle-shaped, bright green deeply lobed, fleshy foliage. Small, yellowish-green flowers in midsummer. Very aromatic, slight celery-flavor. Leaves and stems good to eat; roots used medicinally.

Culinary uses: Seeds as sweetener & leaves in salads.

Medicinal Uses: The plant is said to be a very healthful, strengthening tonic, and aromatic stimulant.
