Description:

General: Traditional hedge plant in herb gardens that can be clipped to shape. Attractive pink flowers and mildly fragrant leaves. Medicinally, it has been used to treat gout and coughs. Germander should be grown in a well-drained soil and bright sunlight.

Medicinal Uses: Germander is known as a stimulant, tonic, diaphoretic, and diuretic. This herb has some similar qualities to that of Horehound, a decoction of the herb taken with honey has been found useful in asthmatic affections and coughs.

Ornamental Uses: An erect stem that is branched and leafy. The leaves are dark green and indented, somewhat like an oak leaf. The flowers that bloom a a bright magenta-rose color. The whole plant is almost roughly hairy.
